Start with how you will use it

The right computer and screens depend on what you do at the desk. Some common home setups:

• Gaming. The game on one screen, chat or a guide on a second. A second screen makes the desk easier to use. It does not make the game run faster.
• Streaming. The game or show on one screen, chat and stream controls on another.
• School and research. The lesson, the reading and the assignment open side by side.
• Photos and video. The editing program on one screen, previews and files on the other.
• Home office. A video call on one screen and your notes on the other, with a laptop dock so one cable connects the laptop to everything on the desk.
• Everyday use. Email, bills, family paperwork and video calls, without switching windows all the time.

What we ask before you buy

• Your budget. What you want to spend, so we recommend within it.
• Your space. How much desk you have, and whether the screens sit on stands, on a wall or desk mount, or on arms.
• What you already own. A monitor, keyboard or dock you already have may still be worth keeping.
• Your old computer. Whether its files and programs need to come across.

How we choose

We recommend equipment on reliability and on our own experience with the product. We do not price-gouge on parts. If you want to buy it yourself, we send you links to the right items. If you would rather we buy it, we do that for you.

Set up at your home

When the equipment arrives, we set it up at your home. We run the Windows security updates, set up your user account, connect the computer to the internet, and install programs such as Microsoft Office and antivirus if you want them. We move your files over from the old computer, and we connect and arrange the screens so the desk works the way you planned.

Do I have to buy the computer through you?

No. We can send you links so you buy it yourself, and then we set it up. If you already have it, see computer setup.

Can I add a second monitor to the computer I have?

Often, yes. It depends on the computer and its graphics. Tell us the model when you call and we will tell you before you buy a screen.

Do you work on Macs?

Yes. We work on both PC and Apple computers.
